Spark Plugs

Spark Plugs
At Motorcycle Medic, spark plugs are more than just small components—they’re essential to keeping your engine firing cleanly, reliably, and efficiently. With over 50 years of experience working on motorcycles, ATVs, and UTVs across the mountain terrain of North Carolina, we’ve seen firsthand how something as simple as a spark plug can dramatically affect starting, power output, fuel efficiency, and engine longevity.
We stock and sell only top-grade spark plugs designed for powersports applications.
Our inventory includes options for both air-cooled and liquid-cooled engines, two-stroke and four-stroke machines, and vehicles used in everything from casual trail riding to competitive racing. Whether you're tuning up a dirt bike, maintaining your side-by-side, or preparing for a long touring season, we’ve got the spark plugs you need to perform at your best.
Trusted Brands and Reliable Stock
At our shop in Vilas, we carry spark plugs from industry-leading manufacturers such as NGK, Denso, and E3—brands known for their consistency, high-performance materials, and long service intervals. These plugs are engineered to handle the specific demands of powersports engines, which often operate at high RPMs and in extreme environmental conditions.
From copper core plugs for classic motorcycles to iridium and platinum options for newer, high-performance engines, we keep a range of types in stock. If you're looking for improved ignition, reduced fouling, or better cold starting, we’ll guide you to the plug that best fits your engine’s needs and your riding habits.
Proper Fitment and Professional Advice
Every engine requires a specific spark plug type, heat range, and gap to operate correctly. Using the wrong one can lead to poor combustion, pre-ignition, and even long-term engine damage. That’s why we never leave spark plug selection to guesswork. Bring us your make, model, and any performance modifications, and we’ll match your machine with the correct plug.
We’re also happy to inspect your current plugs to check for signs of wear, fouling, or overheating. If you're noticing poor throttle response, hard starts, or loss of power, your spark plugs may be part of the issue. We'll let you know whether a simple replacement is all you need or if a deeper issue might be at play.
Long-Term Engine Health
Spark plugs directly impact fuel combustion, which means their condition influences not only power output but also emissions, fuel consumption, and engine life. Staying on top of spark plug maintenance is a low-cost, high-value habit. We encourage our customers to check or replace plugs as part of routine maintenance, especially before riding seasons or after prolonged storage.
We often recommend changing spark plugs more frequently for riders who:

- Ride in muddy or wet conditions
- Frequently idle or run short trips
- Use ethanol-blended fuels
- Push their engines hard during off-road use or racing
In these cases, choosing a higher-grade plug can extend service life and provide more stable ignition.

Testimonials
I broke my shifter bolt off while riding on the BDR. What they didn't have was an oem replacement bolt for my ktm 500, But what they did have was the skillset and tools required to extract a broken bolt and a replacement bolt that would work. They rolled another bike off a lift and prioritized my bike to get me back on the trail. They saved my weekend!

Pat, George, and Zack always do excellent work for me, and with a fast turn around time! I took my 2008 CBR600RR to get a full tune up plus some mods, and had it back the same week! If it's a motorcycle, dirtbike, 4wheeler, or side-by-side, trust these guys!

These guys were amazing. I would highly recommend this shop. We needed a rear tire replaced since ours died a horrible death after many curvy runs. They not only changed the rear tire on my husband's Honda vtx1800 motorcycle but initially helped us take it off the trailer (with a severely flat tire) but rescued us from certain disaster when my husband went down trying to get it back on the trailer. They didn't have to do the repair as this shop is busy but they fit us in. Thank you to the gentlemen at motorcycle medic for your fantastic service.

Awesome repair shop! Staffed with very qualified mechanics that get repairs done as quickly as possible. It's also run and owed by an incredibly knowledgeable mechanic that's honest as they come. Reminds me of the good old days. There's no upsell or runaround just quality work done for reasonable price. First time customer and now customer for life!
